Hall sensors play an important role in the industrial field. In many applications, Hall sensors can perform displacement measurements, force measurements, and angular and linear velocity measurements. This article will focus on the application of Hall sensors in these aspects.
First, let’s take a look at the role of Hall sensors in displacement measurement. Usually, we can place two permanent magnets of the same polarity opposite each other, and then place the linear Hall sensor in the middle. At the position where the magnetic induction intensity is zero, we can take it as the zero point of the displacement. When the Hall sensor is displaced by ΔZ on the Z axis, the sensor will output a voltage that is proportional to the displacement.
Secondly, Hall sensors can also be used for force measurement. By converting parameters such as tension and pressure into displacement, we can measure the magnitude of tension and pressure, and make a force sensor based on this principle.
In addition, Hall sensors can also be used to measure angular velocity. We can stick a piece of magnetic steel on the edge of the platter of non-magnetic material and place the Hall sensor near the edge of the platter. When the disc rotates once, the Hall sensor outputs a pulse so that the number of rotations can be measured (counter). By entering the frequency meter we can measure the speed.
Finally, Hall sensors can also be used to measure linear speed. If switching-type Hall sensors are regularly arranged on the track according to predetermined positions, pulse signals can be measured from the measurement circuit when the permanent magnet installed on the moving vehicle passes. Based on the distribution of the pulse signal, we can measure the speed of the vehicle.
In short, Hall sensors play an important role in displacement measurement, force measurement, angular velocity measurement and linear velocity measurement. By applying appropriate technologies and algorithms, we can leverage the data provided by these sensors for a variety of measurement and monitoring tasks. In industrial automation and control systems, the application of Hall sensors will greatly improve production efficiency and quality control capabilities.
