The differences between photocouplers and photoelectric switches are mainly reflected in the following aspects:

Function: Optocoupler is a device used for optical signal transmission and isolation. It converts the input electrical signal into an optical signal, then transmits it through optical fiber or other optical paths, and finally converts the optical signal back to an electrical signal for output. The photoelectric switch is only used to convert light signals into electrical signals as the trigger of the switch.

Principle: The optocoupler illuminates photosensitive components such as triodes or photoresistors through light-emitting diodes, changing the intensity of the light signal to control the output current or voltage. The photoelectric switch also uses a similar principle, but it only has two states, that is, the switch is triggered when the light signal is present, otherwise the switch is not triggered.

Scope of application: Optocouplers are commonly used in electrical isolation, noise filtering, signal transmission and other fields, and can be used for the isolation of analog signals and digital signals. Photoelectric switches are usually used in detection and control systems, for example, to detect the presence of objects and achieve automated control.

Control accuracy: The optocoupler can accurately control the intensity of the light signal by adjusting the voltage of the light-emitting diode, thereby accurately controlling the output current or voltage. The photoelectric switch does not need to adjust the current size. It only needs to set the appropriate photosensitive element and light path according to the required triggering conditions.

In summary, photoelectric couplers are mainly used for the transmission and isolation of optical signals and have high control accuracy; while photoelectric switches are mainly used for detection and triggering switches, and their functions are relatively simple.
